Moral values in modern society
The modern realities of Russia are an echo of the moral and value crisis of the 1990s, which coincided with the crisis of humanistic values in Europe. Behavior in society is now based on negativity, denial of the values of other people and ignoring universal values. Due to the lack of value-based criteria, it has become difficult to make individual decisions regarding your actions, because there is no clear distinction between what is good and what is bad.
Blurring norms and duality in a modern society of mass consumption is the result of a lack of ethical instinct. As a result of unresolved ethical issues, aggression appears in society (as an example, gross insults voiced live by a Georgian television channel from the presenter George Gabuniy to the Russian leadership); desire to punish and teach a lesson to everyone around (recall the riots that were organized by Russian fans in the UK at Euro 2016) and various forms of rejection and criticism of opinions that do not coincide with the personal paradigm of thinking, types of society with a different social philosophy (rejection of migrants, people with gay, Western culture or Oriental philosophy).
Mass culture and the media advocate rudeness, cruelty, violence and obscene behavior. In society, new norms are imposed, which are the starting point in the formation of moral principles, especially for young people.
State of Professional Ethics
Unwillingness to obey generally accepted standards, ignorance or unwillingness to abide by ethical rules are the causes of strained relations in the teams of organizations, which generally affects the efficiency of companies. These phenomena relate to the field of professional ethics, which is an integral element of the implementation and regulation of professional activities.
Although various organizations are taking steps to adopt ethical codes, the younger generation and those who did not have experience in large corporations, in principle, are not aware of the existence of a code of ethics. Meanwhile, the established standards for individual professions are designed to withstand irresponsibility and amateurism. And, of course, they have a humanistic foundation.
The affirmation of the moral component in professional activities raises issues of reliability, responsibility, raises standards for the provision of services and the production of goods, contributing to overall progress.
Ethical standards lead to well-being in society
Ignoring universal values deprives us of the future. Moral values are the source of the formation of society, affecting the self-preservation and self-development of society in a pluralism of ideas, opinions and interests. Ethics creates an ideological foundation by providing a foothold for decision-making and moral assessment criteria. And our task is to restore and formulate new needs according to new realities. This will be the starting point for moving forward.
